Iggy Azelia talks about her rollercoaster ride to fame

Iggy sat down with the Breakfast Club and discussed juicy topics like A$AP Rocky, being blackballed and leaving Grand Hustle. I think Iggy is a beautiful young artist who seems to have a drive and hunger for this industry so I wish her all the best because in this industry it is NOT easy! Iggy is now touring and is signed to Island Def Jam

On being blackballed in the industry
My whole Interscope situation is like when you say ‘No’ to something, like the dream deal, people think that you are absolutely insane and they blackball you a little bit. I felt like I had to get away, so I chose to go to the UK so I could be around new faces or a place that I wasn’t necessarily blackballed. To prove that, ‘Hey, I’m not crazy’ and to get more people on my team, professionally and in the industry. So it paid off to go to the UK.

On if she ever wanted to leave Grand Hustle?
No I never wanted to leave Grand Hustle. What I wanted was a major deal and it was frustrating to me and it was frustrating to see people say TI’s got you trapped in his Grand Hustle Chamber and you are never going to get out. I was like, ‘Okay rude!’ because he is actually the only person that’s ever stuck by me and was actually my friend when everyone else was like she’s losing or it’s a wrap for her. He was the only person that actually stuck around and helped me a lot behind the scenes.

It may not seem like he was doing a lot but he moved as much as he could move but nobody in those offices wanted to mess with me, so what can you do.

On if she would still date in the industry:
I would still date in the industry. I would be lying if I said I wouldn’t. There are pros and cons. The pro is yeah somebody to understand and sympathize. The con is that most of them are neurotic and egotistical, who only care about their own schedule and still expect me, as a woman, to be the one flying out to them on a plane and be their f*cking handbag. And, its like I cannot do that. It’s difficult and not a balance. It becomes difficult, but never say never.

On what ended her relationship with A$AP Rocky:
I’m young and he’s young, it was really difficult time for me. I was going through a lot of stuff and his career was going great and mine was going a different way and we stopped hanging out, but we are still cool.

I have no ill feelings to A$AP. I’m really proud of him and his album going number one. When that happened, I was like, ‘Man good for him.’

On going pop and making music that’s not as ratchet as when she first came out
I still have ratchet sh*t on my album but its difficult for me to come out with twerk songs every time because then people put you in a category and its frustrating because you want to show you have versatility. I am going to go back but I need to show that I do other things so that I can get booked on TV, because I can’t get booked on TV doing twerk music because they don’t want to see butt cheeks alternate on Saturday Night Live.

On falling off
It’s a roller coaster ride and I think it was cool to experience a bit of a high being discovered and a bit of a low. Because sometimes artist get scared and go crazy if they feel like they are going to fade to black or things aren’t going their way. I see people lose their sh*t a little bit behind closed doors and for me to feel like I hit almost the bottom, and know actually that the world is not going to implode on itself, it makes my decision-making easier. Now I feel like what’s the worst that can happen? That, oh I did it already. Trust your struggle.

Lil Wayne disrespects the American flag

Lil Wayne is in the hot seat…again . The young money rapper was seen stepping on and walking on the American flag as the flag was on the ground in his latest video for “God Bless Amerika” .  THe footage was caught on camera and in pictures with him rapping lyrics like

It’s Judgment Day or a fire drill

Yeah, I pour out my heart, have a drink They say the drunk never lie, they ain’t never lyin’

Yeah, my country tis of thee Sweet land of kill ’em all and let ’em die

God bless America,

uh This so Godless America

Heard tomorrow ain’t promised today

The end of time is like a hour away

Seems like these days rappers are all talking about REALLY controversial issues. I don’t know if it’s because that how they truly feel or if it’s the new trend to be extremist but many people seem outraged at Lil Wayne disrespecting our country.

Lil Wayne took it to twitter and facebook to try to clear things up ..

“It was never my intention to desecrate the flag of the United States of America. I was shooting a video for a song off my album entitled “God Bless Amerika”. The clip that surfaced on the Internet was a camera trick clip that revealed that behind the American Flag was the Hoods of America. In the final edit of the video you will see the flag fall to reveal what is behind it but will never see it on the ground. In most people eyes including my own who were raised in that environment, the Hood is the only America they know and the only America I knew growing up. I was fortunate from my God giving talents to escape the Hood and see the other beautiful places this country has to offer but most people who are born in that environment don’t get that chance. That’s their view of their America. That was Dwayne M Carter from Hollygrove New Orleans view of America. That’s who I’m speaking for in this song.”

Bruno Mars is taking it back to the 70’s with the visual to his latest single ‘Treasure.’ The song which is slated off of Unorthodox Jukebox has an old school feel and Mars definitely takes us back with the visual to match as well.

The video which has references to the Late MJ and Prince also comes complete with disco balls and VCR tapes and everything old school.

Check out the 70’s themed video below:

Wiz Khalifa is back and he is bringing us a new visual for his latest single off O.N.I.F.C titled ‘Paper bond.’ In the visual shot by Frank Paladino we see beautiful visuals of the highways, waters and the city life perspective of L.A. from great heights.

We also get to see a bit of the luxurious life Wiz lives as he takes us on the journey from depositing large sums of cash in the bank to cruising in his car through L.A. traffic

Work hard, play hard huh Wiz?

There are some great shots. CRUSHED!

Can he get a refill?

It seems as though Knicks Basketball player cannot get enough of his new boo Elle Varner. Lately it just seems to be a trend in the industry for ball players to date singers. I.E. Shannon Brown, Grant Hill, Sergio Ibaka, Kevin Durant just to name  a few.

Following their instagram trail has made it easier to make out the status between the two stars. Last year Shumpert took to his instagram and posted a picture with him and Varner that read “@ellevarner <—-talk about a good friend! Gotta love her!!” Well it seems now lately that friendship that they had has been taken to new levels, being that two were seen out in Aruba on vacation.

Elle posted this picture of the suspected two on her instagram:

Meanwhile if Shumpert couldn’t make the allegations anymore obvious he posted a video on vine with the caption: “found me a mermaid and bought her to Aruba.”

They def. make a cute candy coated crush pair!!! Go Elle!

Kanye Sits Down With The NY Times & Talks Fatherhood, Fashion & His Legacy

kanyewest-smilingKanye sat down with the New York Times to talk about his new album, past regrets and fashion and the continuance of his legacy.

This week Kanye lifted his anti-press and interview stint as he sat down over a three day period to talk with an interviewer for the New York Times. During the interview Kanye answers a lot of questions that everyone has been wanting the answers to. Such as his outlook on the Taylor Swift bit, to his comparison of his own life being similar to apple innovator Steve Jobs.

The interview will definitely fill you with a variety of emotions about the rapper, sad, happy, to even “this mans confidence is crazy.” In the end I think it was a win/win for the NY Times for being able to have the opportunity to sit down with the man, the legend himself.

On regrets:

I don’t have one regret… If anyone’s reading this waiting for some type of full-on, flat apology for anything, they should just stop reading right now.

On parenthood:

That is a really interesting, powerful question. One of the things was just to be protective, that I would do anything to protect my child or my child’s mother. As simple as that.

I don’t want to explain too much into what my thoughts on, you know, fatherhood are, because I’ve not fully developed those thoughts yet. I don’t have a kid yet.

Yeah. Well, I just don’t want to talk to America about my family. Like, this is my baby. This isn’t America’s baby.

On his trendsetting abilities:

Yeah, respect my trendsetting abilities. Once that happens, everyone wins. The world wins; fresh kids win; creatives win; the company wins.

I think what Kanye West is going to mean is something similar to what Steve Jobs means. I am undoubtedly, you know, Steve of Internet, downtown, fashion, culture. Period. By a long jump. I honestly feel that because Steve has passed, you know, it’s like when Biggie passed and Jay-Z was allowed to become Jay-Z.

I’ve been connected to the most culturally important albums of the past four years, the most influential artists of the past ten years. You have like, Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Henry Ford, Howard Hughes, Nicolas Ghesquière, Anna Wintour, David Stern.

I think that’s a responsibility that I have, to push possibilities, to show people: “This is the level that things could be at.” So when you get something that has the name Kanye West on it, it’s supposed to be pushing the furthest possibilities. I will be the leader of a company that ends up being worth billions of dollars, because I got the answers. I understand culture. I am the nucleus.
